<p>이미 작년에도 8사단에서 사단장의 즉석 마라톤 행사 제안으로 개인별 체력 수준에 대한 이해 없이 무식하게 31도 폭염 속에서 병력들을 9km 마라톤 시켰다가 새벽 조리하고 나온 취사병이 사망함.</p>
<p>당시 마라톤은 사전 위험성평가나 사고예방 및 응급의료 대책이 전무한 상태로 진행됐음.</p>
<p>현행작전이나 훈련 같은 군으로서 해야 할 필수불가결한 활동도 아닌, 그저 보여주기성 행사 때문에 군인이 목숨을 잃었음.</p>
<p>그러나 이 사고로 관련자 2명만 경찰로 입건되었고 해당 행사를 기획하고 지시한 8사단장은 아무런 처벌도 받지 않음.</p>
<p>그리고 현재도 8사단을 지휘 중임.</p>
